Who we are
Nou Design Studio is the design studio run by Horten Pilkington. Horten Pilkington, operating as Nou Design Studio, is responsible for deciding how personal information collected through this website and studio enquiries is used (the data controller).
For questions or requests about your information, email noudesign.horten@gmail.com.
Information we collect
When you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide. The enquiry form requests your name, email address, the services you are interested in, your budget and information about your project. You can also provide your business website, social media details and preferred project start date. We may receive further information through emails and project discussions.
Our website hosting and security services also process technical information, which can include your IP address, browser, device, referring website and information about how you use this site. Optional analytics information depends on the services in use and your cookie choices.
How and why we use information
We use enquiry and business contact information to respond to requests, understand projects, prepare proposals, communicate about agreed work and administer our business. We use technical information to operate, protect and understand the performance of the website.
Our lawful basis for handling business enquiries, project communications and website security is our legitimate interest in running the studio, responding to people who contact us and maintaining a secure website. Where processing is necessary for a contract with you, or steps you request before entering one, we rely on that contractual purpose. Where information must be retained to meet a legal obligation, that obligation is the basis for keeping it. We rely on consent where required for optional cookies.
Required form fields are identified on the form. Without appropriate contact details and project information, we may be unable to respond to an enquiry.
Service providers and sharing
This website is hosted by Squarespace. Contact form submissions are processed and stored through Squarespace so that enquiries can be managed. Form notifications and correspondence are handled through the studio's Gmail email account.
The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help detect spam and abuse. This service may process technical information about your browser, device and interactions for security purposes.
Relevant information may also be shared with providers supporting project administration, billing or accounting, and professional advisers, where necessary for those purposes. We may disclose information where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
For more information about the website and email providers, see Squarespace's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
Cookies and your choices
Essential cookies support core website functions, security and the storage of your preferences. Optional cookies can help measure website use and performance.
You can review and change the optional cookie categories offered by this website through the Cookie Preferences control. Essential cookies remain enabled. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Changing cookie choices does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before the change.
International processing
Services used by this website and studio email may process information outside the UK. The provider privacy policies linked above explain their international processing and the safeguards they describe. Contact us if you would like further information about the arrangements relevant to your data.
How long we keep information
We retain information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this notice. Retention depends on whether an enquiry or project remains active, the nature of the business relationship, and any applicable accounting, legal or claims-related requirements. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed for those purposes.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access your information, correct inaccuracies, have information deleted, restrict its use or receive a portable copy. You may also have the right to object to processing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent.
Send requests to noudesign.horten@gmail.com. You can contact us about a concern or complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
